Music Minute: Robyn
Oct 30th
We all know Robyn as a pop semi R & B starlet from the 90′s; but there’s something intense going on with her music that everyone needs to know about. We all praise artists like Lady Gaga and Madonna because they happen to play a couple piano chords and write lyrics. Well I have news for you: Robyn is changing the face of music. A few years ago she started her own record label. She not only writes, she produces, she distributes she is 100% in charge of her musical aspirations.
Most importantly; this woman can sing. She has got this amazing voice on her that is so natural and personally, I’m obsessed with her. To be honest my opinions are very biased. I have been following her since the beginning of her career and I think I might be in love with her (lol).
She’s provocative and fashionable without being over the top. I am sick of seeing artists wearing certain things, just because they know it will get them attention, there’s nothing avant-garde; wearing caution tape over your tits, sorry Gaga…
Anyway, my goal wasn’t to complain about others, they are all special in their own ways, please check out Robyn’s latest: you won’t be disappointed!
Music Minute: Rihanna Ft. Kesha (Live)
Aug 6th
I was fortunate enough to see Rihanna and Kesha live last night at the Molson Amphitheatre in Toronto.
Honestly; I wasn’t expecting much, but boy george was I suprised. Kesha opened, she is super fun; jumping all over the place, she may have been a little drunk and I loved it! Her singing was pretty good, obviously not perfect, but I admire her true effort and passion.
Rihanna took the stage and started off with “Russian Roulette”. This girl can sing people! I have heard lots of you saying she’s bad live etc. What effing show were you at? She’s great!
What I love most about her live performances; she infuses them with rock, lots of drum and electric guitar going on, I was feelin’ it!
She talked to the audience a lot too, which I love. She let us know how thankful she was that we were out to see her during her first headlining tour.
Lots of images and video during costume changes, and she did little medlies of songs, like “Airplanes” and that Eminem song that I can never remember the name of, and I am too lazy to Google it so eff off! (hehe).
She finished the show, said bye, and OH WAIT! She came back for three or for more songs, ended with “umbrella”. I think my favourite moment was when she sang “Breakin’ Dishes” I love that song! She’s so passionate y’all! I would highly reccommend you see her live! I have a whole new appreciation for her music.

So y’all probably think you’re super cool with you iTunes or your Limewire… You aint seen nothing yet kids. Why download anything when you can stream millions of songs; legally and for free at www.grooveshark.com?
It looks and feels similar to iTunes. You simply search for songs that you like, you can add them to your library and access them from pretty much anywhere with an internet connection. You can even download an app for your smartphone: peace out iPod and MP3 players!
Give it a try, you will fall in love!
Music Minute: Hey Soul Sister!
Jun 5th
I am loving that so many artists are taking their music in new directions this year. Shining example is train; in fact their new single ”soul sister” is so different than the usual, I did not realize it was them until recently. It has a very Jason Mraz feeling too it. I do miss the heavy piano chords we’ve so grown to love with them though! Anywho! Give ‘em a listen, you’ll be glad you did!
Music Minute!: Katy Perry
May 31st
To kick off the new old looking ErikGarneau.com; I thought I’d start us off with a classic: Music Minute! Katy Perry is totally melting my popsicle with California Gurls at the moment! It has such a fun summer flavour too it, kinda brings me back to the 90`s and I cannot get enough. I really like that she`s not afraid to go in a true pop direction. Her last album hosted the anthem I kissed a girl, but the rest of the album had quite the rock feels, lots of guitar, and while that was great, Katy is way better suited to this newer sound.
What do you guys think?
